Story

The Jackal is an elusive killer who makes a living by performing hits for the highest pay. He soon meets his match in the form of a tough British intelligence officer who follows him on a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The novel “Day of the Jackal” takes place in 1963 and revolves around the attempted assassination of then French President Charles de Gaulle.

Remake of Day of the Jackal (1973). I like what they tried. Security cameras, camera phones and social media, the Internet and facial recognition, communications surveillance, digital transactions, etc., are how a killer can remain anonymous and untraceable.

There’s something to love about every episode

The attempt isn’t complete, but please name any stuck shows or movies and I’ll check them right away. However, the telling of the main story is disrupted by the inclusion of the M16 agent’s family drama, which seems like filler thrown in to satisfy the “principle” of formulaic scenarios. I will leave out these unnecessary scenes so that the main plot lines move at the same pace.

I’m in the middle of episode 4 and appreciate the effort and intent. Plus, he loves the tie, nods to the original film and the sniper rifle update, suspending disbelief to 11 that it passes airport x-rays, not to mention the magical sound suppressor, and no one knows. It’s imperfect anyway, but I’ll watch it to the end, appreciate the effort, and be interested in what decisions they make to tell a compelling story.

And I’ll watch Charles dance anything
