It tells the story of three very different families who compete to buy the same 1920s Spanish-style mansion that they think will solve all their problems. Denis Leary and Ray Romano both appeared in the Ice Age franchise (2002-present). I was surprised to see the show receive such low ratings, but it made more sense after reading a lot of reviews explaining how they didn’t go beyond the first episode. The show is a slow-burning mystery that may not be for everyone. I personally found it too funny and enjoyable with a particular Liz Feldman tone that I appreciate. I really love the cast and everyone’s performances. I wasn’t sold on Ray Romano at first due to my own biases (a lifetime of not being able to separate him from Every Loves Raymond), but those wore off pretty quickly. All the characters have their own side stories that form a tangled web of chaos that gradually, though not completely, unravels. By the last episode I was already pretty invested in the story, even though I had already figured out the main plot twist early on. I’m not mad about it though. I would love to see more of this show and I really hope they get a second season.
