An American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)

Story

Follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how her exceptional mind can help solve a crime by reorganizing evidence while working as a cleaner for the police department. Despite having a very high IQ, excellent memory, and extensive knowledge of the occult, Morgan makes a series of major legal mistakes that anyone who has ever watched a television law show would never make. For example, in the first episode, she retrieves a document from a locked safe in the suspect-victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court – illegally obtained evidence. It also could not be used to obtain other evidence – a violation of the legal doctrine of “fruit of the poisonous tree”.

In episode 2, she has to be reminded to wear gloves before examining evidence at a crime scene, and in episode 3, she removes all documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of custody and refusing to let go of everything she removed. HPI remake (2021). I like the idea of ​​the show and how the murder/cop show has been pretty family friendly so far at least. The victim scenes aren’t too graphic.

It doesn’t get in the way

I like that it has a major plot mystery that continues from one episode to the next. She’s a likable character, not too mean, rude, obnoxious. There aren’t any tricky love relationships yet. In my opinion, it gets in the way of living in the house because they have to find a balance between her being exceptionally smart, being observant, and making the other “normal” characters seem stupid and uncouth.

And the police chief seems helpless without her

In some episodes, she figures out things that seasoned police officers would have definitely noticed with her help. It seems like a lot goes on with her partner. Once they find that balance, where the other officers are left smart and competent, and she’s exceptional, it’s going to be a great show. There are a few plot holes in a few episodes that I noticed (especially episode 2), but that seems to be the case with any cop show.
