The scar on Skye’s knee is shaped like a smile
Story
World pop sensation Skye Riley, who is about to embark on a world tour, begins to experience increasingly terrifying and unexplained events. Overwhelmed by escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to confront her past. In one scene, Skye places a VOSS water bottle on a stone/marble kitchen counter and there is a noise that matches the sound of something plastic being put down.

The VOSS water bottles are glass, something that is actually specifically emphasized in the film, so the sound doesn’t match the action being watched. Skye Riley: [Entite Smile] You’re not in control, me! .
It also presents some deep themes about the toxic culture of pop stardom
A very disturbing portrayal of the Smile phenomenon against the backdrop of popular music and celebrity culture. Central character Skye is front and center in this terrifying story, which presents layers upon layers of a man’s life spiraling out of control. We see most of the story from Skye’s point of view, so the film does a great job of building empathy for the character despite all her moral failings.
If you’re into body horror, you’ll love this
In the film, The Smile has many meanings as it also reflects the pressure of showing up and smiling for the cameras when one’s mental health is in shambles. Her mom, assistant, and fans seem sane in the chaos, but their actions seem to become instruments of torture. It’s so upsetting, I personally feel like Skye goes through too much and at the end I’m just relieved that the movie is over.
