I have to agree with many other reviewers, it’s a great production with a good atmosphere, and Eddie Redmayne does a great job as the Jackal, but the leading lady ruins everything. It’s a complete mess, using an actor who, despite the situation, can’t show any facial emotion and almost borders on overacting, perhaps to compensate for a lack of understanding or appreciation for the character. The character is obviously supposed to be confident and experienced, but his portrayal is one of the brazen “I know best.” A woman who, by the way, doesn’t appreciate evidence, carrying a suitcase through a shared office. She’s just so annoying and unbelievable.
